Yin Yoga & Sound Healing

What is Yin Yoga?
Yin yoga is a practice by which poses are held for a minimum of 3 minutes getting deep into the connective tissue (fascia) muscles, ligaments and tendons. Poses are held in a relaxed meditative state promoting mindfulness and calming of the nervous system.
Yin yoga increases circulation through the body, improves flexibility and aids in joint mobility. This combination
promotes a sense of wellbeing by releasing blockages in the energy lines of the body (meridians). Yin yoga can also reduce stress and anxiety by balancing out the internal organs and improving the natural flow of energy or chi in the body.
What is Sound Healing?
Sound healing involves using instruments and voice to resonate deeply with a persons physical, emotional, mental and spiritual energy bodies to encourage healing, release and rest.
Sound helps to facilitate shifts in our brainwave state by using entrainment. By using rhythm and frequency, we can entrain our brainwaves to slow our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness), theta (meditative and/or creative state) and delta (sleep; deep healing).
These two healing modalities will be combined to provide a space for you to work deeply with all aspects of your physical and emotional body. Our intention is to guide you through a transformative process of release, connection, restoration and healing.
After a brief introduction, Emma will guide you through a 90 minute Yin Yoga sequence with most poses being held for 4-6 mins, allowing for a deeply healing practice. She will guide you verbally through the poses and assist physically, as needed. Katie will support you with a soothing and stimulating soundscape including Tibetan singing bowls, crystal bowl, harmonic drum, native drums, chimes and multi-layered vocal toning. Together, we will take you on journey inside yourself to discover your strength & vulnerability, your resistance and your peace. We conclude the session with a 15 minute restful meditation (savasana) to integrate all that has been revealed and release it with love and gratitude.
Yoga mats, bolster and 2 blocks are provided.
Please bring a blanket and cushion/pillow.
