Bovay Seminar Series: GenAI for Teaching and Learning Community of Practice
When Robots Do the Paperwork:
Lessons from an AI-integrated teaching team in a 100-student engineering course
By 2026, generative AI has expanded to be much more than just chatbots, now spanning vibecoding agents, automations, connectors, and much more. What then could a deeply AI-integrated teaching team in higher education look like? This talk reports on an early pilot of AI integration in SYSEN 5300, a Cornell graduate engineering and statistics course of about 100 students, where fairness, security, and quality control were treated as core requirements.
As a reminder, these monthly lunches provide an opportunity to learn more about GenAI as it applies to multiple disciplines, to hear what other instructors have tried, and to ask questions and share ideas. This series is co-sponsored by the Center for Teaching Innovation and the Sue G. and Harry E. Bovay Program in the History and Ethics of Professional Engineering. Lunch will be provided.
