The Scholars are truly honoured to have been invited to be a part of a modern-day premiere of works by Gustav Holst recently discovered here in Tauranga.
The choir joins the Bay of Plenty Symphonia in concert to perform choral works by Holst, Parry, and Elgar. Choral music of the late-Victorian and early-Edwardian era is magnificently grand and fantastically dignified.
The programme includes Holst's' "Ode on a Grecian Urn" (from the Choral Symphony), Parry's magnificent anthem for double-choir, "Blest Pair of Sirens" (performed at the wedding of Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge), as well as a choral arrangement of Elgar's stirring "Nimrod" from the Enigma Variations.
