Space Dogs /// Theatre N16

The true story of Strelka and Belka, two Soviet stray dogs and the first living beings ever to reach outer space. From living rough on the streets of Moscow to becoming celestial celebrities, they become the first living proof of the Communist utopia, orbiting the Earth and returning alive, succeeding over their American rivals and making space exploration a key Cold War conflict.
Featuring historical vignettes and contemporary scenes with major figures such as JFK and Khrushchev, this historical comedy-drama chronicles the Space Race through the perspective of animal and master alike.
The dog-eat-dog world of 1960s politics, the private battles of the era's superpowers, and the seemingly never-ending Cold War are realised in this tale of survival, sacrifice and sausages.

Back from our run at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2017, Space Dogs returns bigger and better to Theatre N16's new space in Tottenham Hale.
