Civil Discourse: Social Advocacy Shabbat & Potluck Dinner

Rabbi David Segal, the new Reform Texas Organizer located in Houston, will speak at Shabbat Services on Friday, November 3, in the Wulfe Sanctuary at 6:30 pm.

The Social Action Committee will host its annual Social Advocacy Shabbat Potluck dinner following Shabbat services. Join us for a potluck and panel discussion with Rabbi David J Segal, Gavin Rogers, Youth Minister at Christ Episcopal Church and creator of “Pub Theology,” and Bill Mitchell from Texas Public Radio’s Dare to Listen Campaign, with Temple members and moderators Marsha Krassner and Dr. Debra C. Morrow.

They will explore how we, as Temple members, can create and foster civil discourse with one another, our neighbors, friends, and family, even if we hold different viewpoints. This evening is certain to stimulate ideas about how each of us can actively practice one of Judaism’s basic tenets of tikkun olam—repairing the world.

Please bring a side dish or dessert to share. Temple will provide brisket and turkey as well as beverages. A $5 donation is requested to offset the cost of entrée. RSVP and pay online at https://www.beth-elsa.org/SocialAdvocacyPotluck.
We hope to see you there!
