Most of us in South Florida are directly or indirectly touched by Guatemalan migrant workers, most who have fled their home country in search of work and better opportunities for themselves and their families. They leave their homes, loved ones, culture and traditions to embark on a very dangerous journey to make a better life for themselves. For 25 years, Ak’ Tenamit has been fighting this trend by working in rural Guatemala to provide a vocational education and on-the-job apprenticeship program. All students acquire 3,000 hours of work experience before graduation.

After determining the skills needed in the available job markets, programs were developed in Sustainable Tourism and Rural Community Development. Over 85% of our students are working within 6 months of graduation, - the highest job insertion rate in the country. These students are staying at home and helping develop themselves, their families and their communities.

The Guatemalan Tomorrow Fund is the US based fundraising arm for Ak’ Tenamit. This November, we are excited to celebrate our 25th anniversary by showcasing Guatemalan art through our exhibit “Reflejos”. A diverse group of Guatemalan artists will be traveling to West Palm Beach to exhibit their work. A portion of their proceeds will be donated to our effort. Sponsorship opportunities are available and we hope you will join us in supporting this important milestone.
