WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
In this workshop, students will learn multiple common physical/medical conditions or concerns that can be addressed through various yoga techniques. We will learn how to look at health conditions through the lense of yoga therapy, and will determine practices or postures that provide benefit to each condition.
Students will learn to perform in-depth client assessments. Students will gain tools and experience that will allow them to conduct a full client assessment to determine specific areas of concern for an individual client. This will include principles of client evaluation, full postural assessment practice and the development of a specific therapeutic program to address conditions that were discovered. Asana, pranayama, and other holistic practices will be used to create a thorough program that can be utilized, and practice time will be given to develop such programs for partners in the workshop. Students will feel comfortable and qualified to meet one-on-one with clients needing therapeutic yoga, and will be more qualified to assess and address moderate issues in a traditional yoga class setting. Students will participate in classes that are condition-specific (for example, yoga for back-pain relief), and will learn to develop their own therapeutic classes to aid and support specific conditions.
