Fisk Chapel AME Church

Edit this place
Founded in 1858 as Bethel A.M.E. (located on the north side of River Road, in Fair Haven), Fisk Chapel A.M.E. has grown steadily and taken on several homes in its 152 year span. Its second home from 1882-1975, Fisk Chapel A.M.E., was named in honor of Civil War General Clinton Bowen Fisk of Rumson, who provided major financial support to help build the church as well as a school for black children on Fisk Street in Fair Haven. Needing more room for its large congregation, in 1975 the church moved to its current location on Fisk Street.
