With the blessing of His Eminence, Daniel Cardinal DiNardo, Regina Caeli Parish is the first parish in the Archdiocese in over 40 years to offer the sacred liturgy and sacraments exclusively according to the Traditional Latin rites. The parish will be located in Northwest Houston on a 40 acre tract donated for that purpose.
In 1988, Pope John Paul II established the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP) as a Society of Apostolic Life of Pontifical Right and approved its constitutions. The Fraternity was founded for the formation and sanctification of priests in accordance with the Traditional Latin rites, and for their deployment in the service of the Church. The FSSP seeks to reunite those who have been alienated by liturgical abuse and theological dissent by offering the sacred liturgy in all of its solemnity according to the Latin liturgical books of 1962, and by offering the faithful sound catechetical teaching within the living tradition of the Church that is ever ancient, ever new. The Fraternity functions under the auspices of, and in complete union with, His Holiness Pope Francis, and the Ordinary of the dioceses in which they serve.
FSSP has over 200 priests serving in 117 dioceses around the world and over 150 seminarians. The Fraternity has two seminaries, one of which is located in Lincoln, Nebraska.
