Martinlaakso librarys reading dog
September 2nd Aliina and owner Helena Soukka returns to library from summer break.
Aliina will once again be at the library starting September 2nd, 2026 6pm to 7pm
Everyone is welcome to read library books or even their own books to the reading dog. The dog encourages reading without judgment or criticism of mistakes, slowness, or hesitation. The presence of the dog relaxes the reader and reduces stress. Reading dog activities are part of animal-assisted therapy and are based on volunteerism.
Aliina will be listening to your reading every third Wednesday from September 2nd, 2026, to December 16th, 2026, from 6 pm to 7 pm.

2.9., 23.9., 14.10., 4.11., 25.11 and 16.12.2026
Also in monday 7.9. second reading dog Lucky and hes owner Pia starts to visit Martinlaakson library.
Lucky is a 6-year-old Labrador Retriever (show line).
Lucky is friendly and likes people.
Lucky joined the Finnish Kennel Club's reading dog program in the autumn of 2025.
In addition to serving as a reading dog, Lucky is a Kennel Clubs "Buddy Dog."
Lucky arrives to library: Monday 7.9., wednesday 7.10., monday 16.11. and wednesday 2.12.
Readers are allotted 15 minutes, and appointments can be made at the library's customer service desk or by calling: 043 825 0909.
