Sankai Juku: TOTEM

Unfolding through acclaimed Butoh company Sankai Juku's signature blend of sculptural movement, visual precision and hypnotic stillness, TOTEM stands as the culminating statement of one of contemporary dance’s most influential visionaries.

Legendary Butoh choreographer Ushio Amagatsu offers a final meditation on memory, nature and the passage of time in TOTEM. Performed by the internationally acclaimed Sankai Juku, the work unfolds through the company’s signature blend of sculptural movement, visual precision and hypnotic stillness. Created shortly before Amagatsu’s death in 2024, TOTEM stands as the culminating statement of one of contemporary dance’s most influential visionaries.
